Living Art! I am an artist, but my canvas only holds my creations for about 6 hours tops… :D Challenge Accepted!
Human Art
Sometimes, people ask me why I do what I do. Strangers. Friends. Siblings. They ask me why I wear ridiculous make up and wigs and accessories and clothes… oh and shoes, can’t forget that! Why do I wear what I wear? Because it’s an extension of me. It tells you as much as I want you to know about me in a quick glance, and even more if you look a little longer. My whole self is a canvas to express how I feel and all I am. My face, the lipstick I wear, the way I do my eyes, can tell you that I’m strong enough to stand out, and if you give me crap about it, I’m strong enough to defend myself, too.
Many people dress like robots, they let magazines pick out their clothes and trends define their style. Those kinds of people try so desperately to fit in. The question I’m asking is, fit in to what? Is this what you want? This uniform society that berates you if you’re different and cringes at the thought of individualism? No thanks, that’s not for me. I prefer friends who encourage self expression rather than hide it. I like people who revel in the good of everyone’s talents and share their own.
If everyone shared what they were good at, with no judgements, we’d all gain a little self confidence.

For the Young Adolescents
Innocence is a gift bestowed upon people at birth. I really think teenagers forget that. When they hit that stage of their life where the media is slamming them with negative messages and they’re being pressured to grow up, they try to get rid of their innocence as fast as possible. Being the naive one is shown in a negative light. The honest truth and realization people come to after they’ve grown is that… they should have held on to their innocence. Sure, in some ways you need to grow up, but not all! Many envy those who are children at heart, and it’s because they retain a quality of innocence in their life.
Think about that before you decide to give up your innocence for the sake of your peers or the boyfriend or girlfriend. The only person you should be thinking about when it comes to the choices you make is you, because you’re the one who has to live with them at the end of the day.

What Just Happened?
I have been slowly coming to terms with the fact that my parents are individuals quite similar to myself. They have great taste in music and like good TV as much as the next average citizen, they like going to concerts and meet interesting people. One of my favorite qualities of my parents is that they both love to learn. I definitely admire this about them, the way they radiate when they’re excited about learning… it makes them easier to relate to. Needless to say, I love to learn too, but that isn’t the point. The point of this is, a person’s parents can be some really cool individuals. Asking questions and relating to your parents can help you get to know the person that raised you in a different light.
Tonight, my Dad and I did something we had talked about doing for a long time. Music, any kind really, intrigues me, so when my Dad offers up his taste in music, I listen with eager ears. Tonight though, I grabbed a notebook and asked him to write down the bands that played at his favorite concerts. The list was extensive, so I was glad to have it written instead of relying solely on my memory banks.
Embrace the thought of getting to know your parents, because one day you’ll look back, and if you missed the opportunity, you’ll really regret it. The most amazing people could be lounging in your living room right now watching Downton Abbey and you would have no idea because you were to busy ordering them around like your personal maids and resisting their will for your good at every turn. Just try looking at your parents like everybody else, with fresh eyes.

We joke around in public places.
We hit each other but we never really fight.
We dance weird to awesome songs… just for fun :)
We give eachorther the “sexy face.”
If she takes my seat…..
We give each other high fives ;)
We scare each other all the time.
I love my best friend :)
